Seemanns-
mission Hamburg Altona E.V.
A home by the harbour. For people from all over the world.
Located directly on the Elbe, in the Port of Hamburg, Deutsche Seemannsmission Hamburg-Altona is a place to arrive and pause.
Under one roof, seamen’s hotel, seafarers’ club, church and pastoral care come together – open, lively and right in the middle of everyday harbour life.
We are a point of contact and a home away from home: for seafarers from all nations and for everyone who wants to experience the harbour rather than just look at it.
What guides us is simple and clear: we stand alongside seafarers and are committed to their dignity.

In the middle of the building, and right in the rhythm of the harbour, lies St. Clemens Church at the harbour. A space for silence, for thoughts, for a moment of distance – without expectations, without instructions.
Here, it is allowed to be quiet. Briefly or for a while. With prayer, with questions, or simply in silence.

At the International Seafarers’ Club Jan Maaten, people from all over the world come together. In a relaxed atmosphere, conversations and encounters unfold – without obligations, without a fixed programme.
The club is open, uncomplicated and shaped by mutual respect. A place for a coffee, a drink, a game or simply a good chat.
